The Doctors Behind The Power Vision Program®
The American Vision Institute is a research organization founded in 1979. The credentials
of the doctors who developed the Power Vision Program are given below. The Power Vision
Program techniques have been evaluated by doctors of optometry in clinical practice.
Dr. Merrill J. Allen, O.D., Ph.D. Former Professor Emeritus and
Head of the School of Optometry at Indiana University. He personally
educated thousands of optometrists and published 231 research papers.
During the course of his career, Dr. Allen received 21 honors including
the American Optometric Association’s “Apollo Award” – which is the
highest award in the optometric profession. Dr. Allen was on the Board
of the American Vision Institute from 1981 until his death in 2003.
Dr. Steven M. Beresford, Ph.D. Founder and Chief Executive
Officer of the American Vision Institute. Dr. Beresford is an expert
on nuclear chemistry and magnetic resonance spectroscopy who has
carried out extensive research into the biomechanics of the eyes and
therapeutic methods of vision improvement, including the reversal
of cataract and macular degeneration by means of therapeutic eye
exercises and nutritional supplements.
Dr Francis A. Young, Ph.D. Former Professor Emeritus and
Head of Washington State University’s Primate Research Center.
During the course of his career, Dr. Young published 95 research
papers and received 11 honors including the American Optometric
Association’s “Apollo Award” for his breakthrough research into
myopia (nearsightedness). Dr. Young was on the Board of the
American Vision Institute from 1981 until his death in 2006.
